What inspires me tends to shift all the time. Sometimes it's a stone, sometimes another artist's work, architecture, lighting design, or even 3D wall art. But overall, I’m drawn to jewelry that stands away from the body—pieces with dimension and presence. Lately, my designs have been moving more in that direction. I love rings where the ornament stands high above the finger, or simple silver earrings that are folded or sculptural. Hollow boxes are one of my favorite design elements, though I don’t make many—they’re incredibly time-, labor-, and material-intensive.
Right now, I’m especially inspired by the Contour Collection, with its geometric forms, folds, and undulating waves. I’ll cut out shapes from templates and just play—seeing what combinations excite me and imagining what could work as jewelry. That’s the most fun part of Contour and everything that fits into it: the discovery of new shapes, and then figuring out how to make them three-dimensional. Could this become a box or hollow form? Would this shape work with a simple fold?
So, in short—shapes, play, hollow forms, and experimentation are what’s sparking ideas for me right now.
